Outsourced Municipal Debt Collectors Profit From The Poor, Pietermaritzburg. : IMC-SA: "Outsourced Municipal Debt Collectors Profit From The Poor, Pietermaritzburg."
The Eastwood Community Forum is extremely disturbed regarding The Witness
exposé on ANC luminaries who were awarded the lucrative Msunduzi municipal
debt collection contract as directors within the two municipal debt
collection consortia: MV Municipal Credit Management Consortium and
Bambanani Joint Venture [The Witness: Cashing in on council debt, dated 13
September].

Any City Council that cannot see the difference between what even a small amount of rubish makes an area look like and a clean organised area should ask themselves the question of if they prefer their clean black shiny Mercedez or a beat up dented dirty old Mercedez...the only difference being the care taken by the owner during its lifetime. Maritzburg is an Antique Mercedez and is being converted from a classic to a beat up old dirty wreck with broken parts!
ReplyDeleteLitter causes businesses to move out and away and crime to flourish. Take 1 bag of litter and sprinkle it randomly a long a street full of R800 000 houses, and they are suddenly worth R600 000 each. Leave it there for a couple of weeks and they become worth R400 000. Times that by 10 000 houses and the city has lost 40 million Rands just from being too bloody lazy and disorganised to do what they are paid to do. (The figures are MUCH higher than this however..thats the baby version) How many jobs is R40 000 000 worth I wonder?
Litter has already clogged up our drainage and sewrage systems and makes our natural waterways filthy. Besides that its just plain disgusting and downright outrageous that nobody cares enough to do the very first thing on any quarter decent Municipalities check list.
If you cant do your job, step aside or stop charging huge rates and let private companies do it for you.
Nobody gets paid for sitting in an old wreck..they get paid for renovating it back into working order!!
